Research Experience
St. Mary's College of Maryland
Research Project, Spring 2020
Advisor: Dr. Linden McBride
Class: Econometrics
Title: "Examining the Impact of IMF Lending Programs Using Fixed Effects Regression”
Utilized fixed effects regression to examine the impact of IMF lending programs
Utilized econometric methods and causal inference
Results: the unemployment rate, population, and receiving an IMF loan were found to be highly correlated with a country’s GDP per capita
Research Project, Fall 2019
Advisor: Dr. Emek Kose
Class: Mathematical Modeling
Title: "The Black Death: A Comparison Between Compartmental and Agent-Based Modeling” (in progress)
Utilize compartmental (SIR) and agent-based modeling to examine the spread of the bubonic plague in the mid-1300s
Utilize R to run compartmental models
Utilize NetLogo to run agent-based models
Results: Compartmental and agent-based models produced similar findings in simulated populations
Research Project, Spring 2019
Advisor: Dr. Linden McBride
Class: Economic Statistics
Title: “Factors Affecting High School Graduation Rates in the State of Maryland”
Cleaned data from multiple sources
Utilized R to estimate a determinants model using regression analysis
Results: Attendance rate, percentage qualifying for a free/reduced meal, and AP scores (substitute for math, reading, and science comprehension) were found to be highly correlated with the graduation rate
